  1. Travelled from Penrith to Windermere on 9 consequetive days on a decorating project in August. When I discovered Shap Chippy on day 4, I managed to visit 5 out of next six days (closed Monday so missed that one) It was like a beacon on my way home each day (told the relatives I’d called in a couple of times but got sussed out when the lovely proprietor came over on my last visit to say cheerio….I was rumbled!!) Chips were great, tried the spicy sausage on the last visit and loved it. Am now back home in Cornwall, but next time North I’ll be back. Keep up the good work, hope you have a busy Autumn.

    1. Thanks Gerry – was that the Smoky Jo sausage or the local butcher’s Cumberland sausage you tried on your last visit? Perhaps you will try the other one next time you are up here!

      1. It was the smokey Joe, for sure will have a go at another one next time I’m your way. Have a good autumn Georgie see you next time!!

  2. Hi Gerry, Gwyn here from the chippy. I’m so sorry I “rumbled” you with the relatives. Glad you enjoyed the Smoky Jo and thank you for the lovely Trip Advisor review.

    1. Hi Gwyn, was you I spoke to when with the relatives wasn’t it (not sure who’s who at Shap Chippy…perhaps you should have a hall of fame …or shame that we could all look at), yeah, I told them i’d stopped a few days earlier, not every day that I had driven past. Anyway the girls enjoyed their cheesy chips so I was forgiven!!
Will keep watching your web site to see whats happening in Shap so keep up the pictures and blogs as we are all out here watching you. Fame at last!
