Gas and snow

I can only assume the snow is our fault.  When I was about 7 years old  my parents converted the attic to bedrooms for me and my sister.  It was April, and the day the builders went through the roof it snowed.

So the chip shop has no roof – though it is well covered with polythene – and we have blizzards.  Marvellous.

The gas man thought he was on the far west coast!  He was from the north east, but even so…

  1. Can’t wait for your fish and chips! Wonder if you’ll let us hover in the doorway eating ours, as it would be cold by the time we got home to Penrith! By the way I understand you are looking for a till/cash register. I have one from when I had the bookshop – closed it in 1995, but the till (electronic) seemed too good to chuck, so it is still here. It may not be what you need, and that’s fine, but you can have it if you want it. They are probably much more sophisticated these days.

    1. Good to hear from you! Thanks re: cash register (how did you know..?!) We have a big old(ish!) one, we’re hoping to get a small one, so we have plenty of space to wrap big meals and serve mushy peas!

  2. Daughter Sally Arnison (Barnton Pharmacy) stopped here last night with her wife and two small sons (5th and 7th grandsons – last one inevitably nicknamed Septimus). She’s just renewed her till system and I believe you contacted her about her old one. This one is quite big, and I’m sure they come quite compact these days. Good luck with your venture – I have no doubt whatever you will pull it off and very quickly be looking for new premises!!
